Psalm 91 📖

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the LORD your dwelling place– the Most High, who is my refuge–
10 no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.
14 “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name.
15 When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

Gods Comfort & Protection

Recently I have found this psalm to be one of the most encouraging and comforting pieces of scripture I have read…and particularly verses 14, 15 and 16.

 

14 “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name.
15 When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

 

God will deliver me (or rescue me), He will protect me… He hears me and answers when I call out to Him… He is with me through all my troubles, and will rescue me from them… I will be made special through Him…My life will be satisfying through him and at the end of it all, I have the promise of an eternity with Him. What could be of greater comfort?

 

We are all created by and made in the image of our almighty God. But this psalm speaks to those that trust in, love, and follow after His ways, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 John 5:1-3 says

¹ Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. ² By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. ³ For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. 

Ephesians 2:8-9 says

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

These scriptures from the holy bible are a great comfort to me and I’m sure many christians all over the world, and particularly in times that are becoming so increasingly evil. His people need to hear these reminders of God’s love and care for them. There will be a time of everlasting peace and rest to come and for now God offers his peace to those who trust in Him.

1 John 5:13

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.

Isaiah 26:3-4 ESV

3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. 4 Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.

It is my prayer that my family and friends who don’t know the gospel of Christ and those who are seeking the truths of God, will come to know and be saved by Him.
