About the scrubbies
Ladies, if you like the idea of not using makeup wipes or throw-away pads but still like to use something similar to remove your makeup and cleanse, these scrubbies might be just what you need.
Furthermore they also make a great gift for friends or your tween and teen girls.
They come in a round and square variety, the square one being a little larger.Ā
More info
- Made with 100% cotton yarn, which is super absorbent and gives a lovely clean feel on the skin.Ā
- I’ve tested the white scrubbies with makeup removal and no stains after washing!!
- I recommend a cold wash and to dry flat.Ā
- Purchase the round onesĀ hereĀ and the squareĀ here.
- Cotton will shrink a little in the dryer, but if you don’t mind, go ahead š.
The round scrubbies have been crocheted using:
- (puff) puff stitch
- (ch) chain
- (sc) single crochet
- (dc) double crochet
- (sl st) slip stitch
- Ā (ch-sp) chain space
The yarn I have used isĀ Flinders Cotton 8ply
You’ll find theĀ original free pattern hereĀ and the below pattern adjusted to my liking. (I found the original pattern needed to be blocked as it did not sit flat)
Special Stitches
- yo, insert hook into stitch
- yo, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook)
- yo, insert hook into same st
- yo, pull up a loop (5 loops on hook)
- yo, insert hook into same st
- yo, pull up a loop (7 loops on hook)
- yo, insert hook into same st
- yo, pull up a loop (9 loops on hook)
- yo, insert hook into same st
- yo, pull up a loop (11 loops on hook)
- yo, pull through all 11 loops on hook
- ch 1 to lock the puff stitch in place
Make a magic circle.
Round 1:Ā 8 sc into the circle, join in beginning sc with a sl st. (8 sts)
Round 2:Ā Ch 2 (counts as first dc), 1 dc into the first st, *2 dc into the next st; Repeat from *around, join into the first ch2 with a sl st. (16 sts)
Round 3:Ā Ch 2, 1 Puff st into each st around, join into the first ch2 with a sl st. (16 sts)
Round 4: 1 sc into the top of each puff st and into each ch-sp around.
FINISH:
- Fasten off and join with anĀ invisible joinĀ for a neater outer edge.
- Weave in ends

- In the same stitch, yo, insert through stitch
- yo and pull through stitch
- yo and pull through 2 loops (4 loops on the hook)
- yo, pull through all 4 loops on the hook
Row 1: ch14
Row 2: in 2nd chain from the hook, sc across. ch1, turn.
Row 3: sc in first stitch, *bobble in next, sc in next. Repeat across from *. Ch1, turn.
Note: all the bobbles will be on the same side of the work.
Row 4: sc across.
Row 5-14:Ā Repeat rows 3 & 4, 6 times (should be 6 bobble rows)
FINISH:
sc around the border of the 3 other sides, then fasten off. Weave in the ends.
